In this presentation Matt Delbridge discusses a series of interconnected Motion Capture projects covering animal studies, film, animation, acting and cultural heritage. From remodelling lost Elizabethan venues, to men in monkey suits, to the Hong Kong Martial Arts Living Archive, join us as we discover more about Delbridge’s recent work, and some exciting new directions planned for the Acting program at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Associate Professor Matt Delbridge is Head of Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts. His research areas include actor training, motion capture, performance technologies, animation, theatre history, cultural heritage, scenography, technology studies and production processes. Matt’s recent work has been published in SCENE, Animation Practice, Process and Production, Body Space, Technology, Performance Research and Nordic Theatre Studies. He regularly designs for Split Britches (US/UK), consults and delivers masterclasses in Motion Capture and Digital Performance environments in Scandinavia, Europe and Asia, and is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Creative Media, City University Hong Kong. Recent book projects include Theatre & Technology (Palgrave 2017) and Motion Capture in Performance: An Introduction (Palgrave 2015).
